John McLean OBE

CARERS TRUST

John recognises the vital role that carers face and the prospect of himself or his family and friends becoming carers prompted him to find out more about the role of carers and to consider how he could contribute to help improve their lives.
John says he is acutely aware of the increasing ageing population and has seen the effects of caring on a number of his friends and colleagues.
John was a member of Voluntary Overseas (VSO) Federation Council (2012-2015), Chairman of VSO China (2010-2015) and an active VSO fundraiser.
Outside of his charity work, John is a chartered accountant, having led growth in a number of medium-sized organisations. He has held senior posts in numerous international and UK organisations, with particular interest in China, where he chairs several companies.
He was awarded an OBE for services to British business interests and the development of civil society in China.
