Thomas joined the University of Worcester's'Association for Dementia Studies as Research Associate'in December 2018. He has'worked on the Alzheimer's Society-funded'SCI-Dem review of what can help or hinder group and activities for people affected by dementia to keep going long term, which completed in December 2020. He is now part of a team of researchers engaged on the NIHR-funded'Get Real with Meeting Centres project, which is looking again'at the issue of'sustainability but specifically with regards to'Meeting Centres for people affected by dementia. Meeting Centres are a'type'community support intervention'that is growing in popularity across the UK.'Thomas has a background in teaching and journalism, having worked as both an A level teacher and a newspaper journalist prior to returning to the field of psychology and'social science as a'researcher.
